I agree that the aftermath is just as important as the initial story. Can't wait for more!

Very nice -- and a rather amusing take on a certain logician's story, there.

I can certainly empathize with Harry's preference for Ginny's approach to helping his arm heal. :-)

Really?! An epilogue to chapter 33? Hope that comes along soon ... I'm not sure my nerves can take waiting!

Melinda -
I've been tracking your stories for a while now, okay - it's more like stalking, and this is the first time I'm reviewing The Seventh Horcrux.... Bad Suis!

Anyway, you've got me hooked with the very first chatper of this tale and I've been happily devouring each subsequent chapter ever since. I suspect there is at least one, maybe two, more chapters to go in this story ... just wish you would update a little more often. Seriously, I understand why you're taking your time and I really appreciate the care you take to make sure you have a well-crafted story. Please, please, please keep up the great work and don't hold back if you get inspired to write yet another HP Fan Fic! Your stories are some of the BEST I've ever found on the Internet.

The Seventh Horcrux
This is my first review. I loved this chapter (well, all of them, really). It was just so typical of Harry to wake up and not want anyone to see him feeling weak. I thought that it was fitting to have Hermione in the room instead of Ginny, because she's known him so much longer. I liked seeing how all the Weasleys in this chapter were so protective of Harry. Ginny's got the healing touch, huh? I do want there to be some redemption to Draco. He seems so lost right now and the fact that he's lashing out again shows how hurt he is. All in all, great chapter. I can't wait for the next one.
Sunday 29th October 2006 07:02The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Hey, I love new reviewers! I love protective Weasleys, so I'm glad to see you do, too. Harry still has that huge pride of his, but that's what makes him loveable. I think there is hope for Draco, but his future could still go either way at this point.

I can't wait to see what happens here. And I like how whenever Ginny touched Harry's arm, it moved or had sensation in it. That's pretty cool. And Malfoy is such a prat. But I can see where he is coming from. Almost done. Very good chapter. I loved it. Stupid reporters.
Sunday 29th October 2006 07:00The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Malfoy is a prat, but I think he always will be. I hope I succeeded in showing there's also some hope for him, too.

Slow is good.
This is how an aftermath ought to be, n'est pas?
I can't wait to see what happens when Draco realizes Harry will be staying with him.
I hope Harry and Ginny find their private time together.

Wow. This is the first time in reading three stories by you that I am caught up and have to wait. I have a feeling I'm going to dislike waiting as much as Harry. However, I know it must ake much time and effort to write so brilliantly.
Sunday 29th October 2006 06:58The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Hee, well, it's a good time to be caught up as there is only two chapters left. I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and and will get their private time next chapter.

The Seventh Horcrux
I love his recovery. People do indeed seem to favor the battle, and not often do they want to see harry's strength wane. A hero isn't a hero if he or she can't fall. Anyway, it was beautiful. I love the dynamic between the four of them. it illustrates their strenghts and weaknesses perfectly. I would love to see more Molly and Harry, though. I think her concern was a bit played down. I know she was trying not to worry, but i wish I could have seen her there during this chapter. That's the only thing, though. Malfoy was done really well. Normally I don't hope for his redemption, but you've converted me as you have on many ideas, such as harry as a horcrux. Wow, recalling that...what a long road, indeed. The idea of some Harry/Ginny after all this battle is so welcome.

great job.You and JK should have tea.
Sunday 29th October 2006 06:56The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I played up the relationship between Molly and Harry much more in CotD than in this one simply because it hasn't really progressed in canon. It's fanfiction that loves it - me included - but I think Harry has moved beyond the desire for parental figures and is instead latching onto his friends. The same goes for Remus. I think his fanon role is stressed much more in fanon than in canon. I'm glad you enjoyed Draco. I had a lot of fun with him in this story.

The Seventh Horcrux
A beach house, huh?

This chapter seemed to go by so fast. I was at the end and I didn't even realize it! And it didn't make me bawl like a baby!!
I think this chapter was necessary because not everyone enjoys writing Harry's recovery. His recovery is important because if it was skipped people would think "How did he get better that fast? He just killed Voldemort and a day later he's perfectly fine?"

I loved the scene with Ron, Ginny, and Hermione in the room. Who would have guessed that a pheonix would come out? (I didn't.)

What bit Malfoy in the butt? (...erm...well, it's kind of obvious isn't it?) But to think I actually cried when he helped Harry...(heaven forbid I waste any tears over Malfoy almost dying...I couldn't help it! I thought he really turned good, sarcasm and all!)

I understood Charlie's and Ginny's anger with the reporter. Geez, they're annoying. Their part of the story, but I hate them. When Charlie came in and attacked the reporter... he deserved it.

I was wondering when Harry and Ginny would get to snog again!!! It's seemed like such a long time. They deserve it too!!!

I can't wait until the next chapter!!

~Anni

P.S. Hermione's not the best at comforting Harry sometimes, is she?
Saturday 28th October 2006 06:09The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks! I agree, I love the recovery scenes, and it just seems like Harry CAN'T walk away from the final battle uninjured. He always gets injured, and this is the big one, right? Did you like the phoenix? I thought it appropriate since in a sense, Harry has finally been reborn. Give Malfoy a break (I can't believe I'M saying that, lol. He's lost his mum and girlfrined. He's allowed to feel a bit sorry for himself. The trick is whether or not he can pull out of the downward slide.

More snogging to come next chapter!

"Slowed down" is a good thing in this case. Aftermaths are my favorite and this one is moving beautifully. I'm looking forward to a perfectly lovely scene with Harry and Ginny. Maybe even Ron and Hermione if the planets are aligned correctly!

Totally enjoyable!

You can drag the aftermath out as long as you want! I too adore reading the aftermath- there\'s always so much fluff and I always have a huge smile on my face. But this was a great chapter - I squealed quite loudly - I\'m worried the neighbors heard me! And the whole thing with Charlie was hysterical - and I love this part: (it made me laugh like crazy!)

\"Perhaps he looked weaker than he thought, stuck in the hospital bed. He never thought he’d be grateful for anyone thinking him weak, but there you go.\" LOL! The perfect thing for Harry to be thinking after getting caught snogging. Really though, I could quote every word of this chapter and comment on how your brilliant wit and writing talent made this chapter so good. And Harry has feeling in his arm!! Yay!
Really though, I have nothing but praise for this fic! Wonderful work!

YAY! He's fully awake now, and ready to snog! Interesting bit with his arm tingling during times with Ginny. Wonder what that's all about.

I love it when Ginny can blackmail her brothers. One of the many things I love about her - that she can be so devious Makes me really wonder about how the both of them (Harry & Ginny) really would have fared in Slytherin.

A beach holiday you say? Tempting.. very tempting. And I know that the bit with everyone while Harry was unconcious will come back into play somehow in the next chapter or two.

Can't wait for the next update!
Saturday 28th October 2006 06:20The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
I dont' think either Harry or Ginny would ever have been placed in Slytherin for real. The Sorting Hat considered Harry for ALL the house, it was HARRY who focused on Slytherin, not the Hat.As for Ginny, being the youngest, I think she would have had to learn ways to take care of herself. I have three kids, and the youngest is certainly the most self sufficient, lol. He has to be.

I promised myself that I would read the remaining chapters all at one go, but every time I see the Author's update in my email of "TSH" I just can't help myself. I click right to PhoenixSong.net to get my weekly fix of another wonderful chapter. Yes, yes, yes! I know I'm weak. When something is this good, you just can't say no.

Doesn\'t it just make you wanna say Aww... You have done a great job with the seventh book. I hope there are many more sunny days on the beach for Harry and Ginny. I normally hate Malfoy, and normally I would be overjoyed at him being pretty much abandoned, But now, I fell very bad for him. (amazing!) Again, great job! I\'m excited for the rest of it.
Saturday 28th October 2006 06:10The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Hee! Yay, I'm glad you feel bad for Malfoy. I cant' believe I actually wrote a redeemed version of him! It sees the way canon is headed, however. Anyway, he's reeling now, too, but he DID help. I dont' think he's ever going to be all sunshine and daisies, but there's hope for him.

I read the chapter this morning before I went to work, but I didn't have the time to leave a review. I had to come back and tell you that I enjoyed the chapter. I know that you mentioned that some people commented on things slowing down, but one of the many things that I enjoy about your stories is how you fill us in about the aftermath. I love how you tie up all the loose ends. I want to know what happens to them all!

What a healing kiss our Ginny possesses! Just give her some time, and Harry will be back to normal. I love the control/threats that Ginny has over her brothers. Talk about patience in that she has known this little item about Charlie for a long time and waited to "cash it in." You have to love her spirit, and you convey it so well!

Thanks for the great chapter. I am glad to see that Harry is on the road to recovery. Take your time in wrapping things up. The more chapters the better.
Thursday 26th October 2006 16:48The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Heh, thanks! I like the slow wrap up, too. I think Ginny would be one to bide her time and use her weapons when needed, lol. With seven older brothers, she has to have learned how to play her cards. There are still two more chapters to come, but it's taking me a while to fit them in.

So H/G will finally get their beach. Very nice! And with Draco there too - will he be able to stand it! LOL! I liked this chapter. I loved Ron in this one - very concerned and helpful. I liked his and Harry's conversations too. That reporter barging in scared me too, not just Harry! I'm glad his arm may be coming around - that's great. I hope they get all the DEs rounded up and Harry will decide not to be an Auror. I think he's had enough of that in his young life. Oh yeah, and Charlie interrupting them was cute! Looking forward to the remaining chapters!
Thursday 26th October 2006 16:46The Seventh Horcrux (Author Response)
Thanks! You know, I used to want Harry to play Quidditch instead of being an Auror, but that changed after HBP. HBP made me realize that despite what I might want for him, Harry really wants to be an Auror. So...I have to give that to him.

I like the slower ending too. Possibly my favourite part of the story so far. People often seem to miss out all the work needed to clean up after a war, and the impact on those who survive.

Thank you for writing; I've really enjoyed reading this.

A slow ending is just fine with me. Well done. I love all the detail in the story - how Harry woke up with Hermione rather than Ginny (poor bloke!); Hermione's overriding desire to try out the soul searcher; and the hapless reporter. A very nice chapter. Now can Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Ginny please enjoy some sunshine, a nice beach, and no Death Eaters?

The Seventh Horcrux
Great chapter, the wind down is going great.

I have to say, the moment of Harry's weakness was extremely well written ... the way you described it made me think of my first time out of surgery as an adult, and how foolish but comforting it felt to be so dependent upon those standing beside the bed when you wake ... 'feeling like a baby' just about sums it up.

Anyway ... thank you for this wind down, it's excellent ... I just hope that you'll have enough time to help the relationship with Draco recover. I think it would be fitting for them to help him now, but it's your call and I'm gonna like it either way!

I do love this chapter! So great to see Harry up and about again (sort of). I love the touch of making his soul balance a Phoenix. I expected to see a scene with Dudley in this chapter, but I suppose (hope) we'll see him again next chapter? I wonder what will happen to him now. Will he go to Hogwart's now? Will he have to have private tutoring? It would be fun to see him, big, fat 18-year-old Dudley Dursley sitting in a room full of first years and following Draco around. Do you have any intention of writing that relatively normal seventh year at Hogwarts? I would be interested in reading it. =0)

Love it!
You have the same clever sense of humor as JKR
I would like to see how it goes when Mr Wesley visits the Muggle Prime Minister, sort of like the first chapter of HPB but funnier.
Your Ginny is so on character that is scary, and Draco too, well in fact everybody is in character. There must be very few fics like that, but for me this is the first one.
I really like that in the aftermath everything is not perfect, the "they lived happily ever after" is hard to believe some times, there have to me some sorts of problems, after all Voldemort was not the only evil in the world, and plus that keeps the story exciting. I hope to see some deatheater smackdown before the end.
I want to read the next one, but I don't want this to end.

Death Eaters still on the loose? Malfoy back to his arrogant best? I have a feeling this story still has a sting in its tail.

I do feel sorry for Harry though - he finally defeats Voldemort and lives to tell the tale, and now he's got an over-protective Charlie weasley to deal with! Give the poor guy a break, please ...

Ohh it just keeps getting better! I LOVE how you have not just *ended* it; that can be such a letdown. I am enjoying the slow down, and having a few death eaters to worry about just keeps it from being a typical slam dunk victory. Excellent as usual.

I like the slow pace, I get so wrapped up in the story and race towards the end to see what happens, but am always sad to get to the end. I like getting all the post war details so keep them coming.

Nice to see that Charlie was getting some action - I always think of him as the quiet type that has lots of hidden depths. (and history with the girls)

I think that's an excellent idea ... let us all down slowly ... get us used to life with no weekly Melinda updates ... *sniff*

I can't wait to see them all down at the beach! And to meet you Andromeda properly ... i like her character, even though she doesn't have a cannon personality, aside from being neat and having Tonks for a daughter *shudders* Imagine ... three year old Tonks - someone hide the crystal!

Oh, and i loved the way Ginny blackmailed Charlie, but that's a bit disturbing about the treehouse ...

This is a great story! I really enjoyed it even though this is the first time that I have reviewed. Sorry.

Your story is very inventive and you have thought of a lot of possibilities for book 7 that I haven't seen anywhere else.

I also like that you are writing wrap-up chapters. I always like to know what people have planned for the main characters after the 'final battle'. Lots of people do a 1-chapter epilogues that leave me wanting more.

Thanks for the great story.

Thanks so very much, and I'm thrilled to have a new first-time reviewer. I hope you enjoy the wrap up, it's always my favorite part, and I'm eager to see the real seventh book to see if I got anything right.

I like the aftermath too. I need closure on a wonderful story! I'm so happy Harry's okay and finally getting to take a holiday! You're portraying his acceptance of being free really well. I love when he woke up and didn't know what was wrong with his emotions. I feel like that sometimes. Can't wait for more!!

Thanks! I think there are lots of us aftermath fans out there, lol. Next chapter is Harry's holiday. I hope you enjoy it.

Lovely chapter! There were so many little details that I enjoyed. You keep writing your wrap up the way you see fit. I have absolutely no problem with it. I always love knowing how things ended up.

I loved it when Charlie nearly pummeled the reporter. *evil grin* Though, with the quick quotes quill, I was expecting it to be Rita. I do love protective Weasleys, oh yes. Harry's pride is amusing in an infuriating kind of way. I loved this chapter. Great job, once again.

Thanks! I like protective Weasleys, too, and Harry's so needed that. Heh, I'm glad you found Harry's pride both amusing and infuriating. I generally find Harry's actions a little of both, lol.
