Snape and the Malfoys according to the Ministry had never attacked anyone. They, like after the first war, are innocent of all charges. The Malfoys are upstanding citizens
-- This is Post-HBP, isn't it? Snape is the killer of Dumbledore and with his disappearance from the school (witnessed by many) during a Death-eater attack, could even the ministry claim otherwise? And Malfoy (Lucius) is an known criminal, a wanted escapee from Azkaban, isn't he?
I don't know whether the clock would say St. Mungo's, but at the very least it would indicate that Molly was not in danger as the hand would not be on Mortal Peril or any similar position; I think it likely though that In Hospital would be on the clock .

I had to go back and read it. I hated HBP and didn't mean to do this as a post HBP, but I put in the Horcruxes in the first chapter. Just an author's mistake. I'll watch out for them better if I write more, but the story's been finished a long time and it's not changing. Something I just thought about though... the Ministry nearly completely stopped actively looking for Sirius after Harry's 3rd year. Why? He was still a mass murderer after Harry, was he not? No one had been able to convince Fudge that he wasn't after Harry if I remember correctly. Dumbledore just forbade him to keep Dementors on Hogwarts' grounds. This story takes place a year or so after Voldemort. But the fact Dumbledore was killed by Snape is something I overlooked.

'in tact' -- one word, intact
'No one remotely expected an attack' -- why? Why would they be complacent with Snape , Malfoy and company still at large? Wouldn't they remember how death eaters continued to torture people (e.g. Longbottoms) after Voldemort disappeared at the end of the 1st war?
'a Ministry official barged into her hospital room asking her questions about their relationship. Did she think he had been cheating?' -- ministry official seems to be such buffoons ; didn't he know there had been a death eater attack? how did they explain the deaths of Charlie and Hestia?
'emotional, irrational conclusions' -- perhaps that's why neither Ron nor Hermione took time to check Molly's clock; wouldn't that have told them where they were (at least Molly would still be on it even if Ginny wasn't because she was married)?
poor Hermione and Molly -- they shouldn't beat themselves up so much.
this seems to get sadder and more intense by turns; I hope the clouds have silver linings .

Snape and the Malfoys according to the Ministry had never attacked anyone. They, like after the first war, are innocent of all charges. The Malfoys are upstanding citizens. I sounded like Umbridge there...

When has the Ministry ever done the right thing in the books? First, they try and get Harry killed or expelled by sending a Dementor after him. Next, they try the same thing at school or get him sent to Azkaban for murdering Umbridge like he wanted to do so much. They call him a dellusional liar the entire year after Voldemort's resurection. Then, Scrimgeour pops up and starts practically begging Harry to be the Ministry poster boy. I have yet to see him do something productive towards ending the war.

As for the deaths, rogue miscreants is the official statement.

Does the clock say St. Mungo's. I can't remember. Oh well, let's mark that as paranoia and panic on RH's part.

Thanks for all the good questions. I love answering them. Another chapter in the next couple of days.

Nicely written story with Ginny. The feeling of Ginny's deathly torment reads well. Harry is on his way home, but how much longer will it take and how many more Death Eaters will he come across. This story is begging for more chapters to be read. Please update soon.

Oh, I really like this story! Man, I hope Harry makes it back. His baby had better not die! Ooh, does he get captured again? That would be so suspenseful; you know, they find out he's alive, then he's recaptured and then Ginny has to live, for him, and... oof. Sorry, your story! I love it though! Good job.
