Wow!

Absolutely awesome and brilliant chapter. That doesn't do it justice, sorry. I felt so much for Hermione and completely agreed with her that Ron really needed to work for her - to make up for his rejection during the year.

But then ... Ron ...

I adore your analysis of Ron - I find it hard to imagine him expressing it all so eloquently, but I have no trouble at all imagining him actually feeling all of that. The conclusion is so shocking, but is the only possible one in your story - the way you've written it, that's brilliant.

They're both so mistaken and so right about everything ...

I said it before, but I must say again: you're one of the few reliable writers around - I know that doesn't sound flash, but as a reader it's something I hold in high regard.

Ron's eloquence could be a problem, however, he was playing stupid, and apart from that, the last events must have had a sobering effect on him. Also, he had some time to think this through, so I think it's okay.

Glad you like it.

Oh là là! Very good indeed. I think you said in the first chapters A/N that you found it difficult to write Hermione and Ron. But it certainly didn't show. Great dialogue, and excellent twists.

(Oh, but one small thing. Do people really snore when they feel comfortable? I thought it was the opposite.)
Sunday 4th March 2007 09:34Moods (Author Response)
Thank you. - Concerning snoring: yes, I do. Having been on the receiving end of snoring from different people, I think that they're completely oblivious to the torture they put you through and that's only possible with relaxed ignorance.

Wow... That's a hell of a way to leave us with a cliffhanger. I don't think I've reviewed your story before, but I must say that I've enjoyed the way you brought out the emotion of the characters. Geez... now I'm left wanting more. Can't wait to see what happens.

Looking at the number of reviews, it seems an easy formula:

cliffhanger = 2 x motivation for writing reviews

= more fun for the author

Look at all these amazing reviews! They make my beta heart smile, because everyone is seeing exactly what I see everytime I work on one of your fics: an amazing authour with an amazing talent!

I've told you before and I'll tell you again. R/Hr has never been a preferred ship of mine. Sure, they give me the warm fuzzies in the books, but I'm a H/G girl through and through ... but this chapter and this chapter alone has made me sit up and take notice of Ron and our favourite book worm ... big time. You've done an utterly amazing job here ... can't wait to get chapter five up for you!

HOLY MOLY! I, honest to God, have never read a more amazing conversation between Ron and Hermione than the one you just wrote. I mean, the angst and the feelings were all just so perfect... and Ron was.... wow. I honestly don't know what else to say... this chapter was so well written it made my heart clench and my breath catch and it really justified Ron in the way he deserves to be justifed. (Does that make sense?) I mean yes, Ron can be a royal git, but this chapter shows how much more of a git Hermione can be and how she went about her attutude towards wrong in the worst possible way, being all "woe is me!"

Oh and the crying? It killed me. It literally took my heart strings and practically pulled them out of my chest.

"I've made a decision," he admitted after some time, clearly unwilling to say more.

"To do what?" Hermione insisted, when he did not continue.

Ron's face dropped, his Adam's apple bobbed nervously. "I decided to give up."

"On …?"

He shook his head, as if trying to clear his mind and answered with great vigour, "You."

Noooooo!! Hermione for once in your life don't act like a stubborn dumb a... and talk to him about how you feel!!!

And the last 3 chapters? Between Harry and Ginny? Made me so unbelievably happy! They were amazing and I hope there's more to come from them!

A.Ma.Zing work. Just, wonderful!

I'm really looking forward to the update!

I really loved this. The way you wrote Ron's character was interesting and it kept me thinking. I've never been a huge Hermione fan and I loved that she didn't have all the answers in this chapter - or at least the answers she thought she knew to be truths of her friend were wrong.

I loved the use of the "giving up" idea here. Ron and Ginny are really a lot alike in your stories. Both the Weasley children waited a long time for the person they cared about before giving up. That was also when harry noticed more. I hope Hermione has enough sense to try to understand the Ron she thought she knew and to make things right one way or another.

This was quite unexpected and very good. It is really great to see Hermione second guessing herself and underestimating Ron. For Ron to finally tell her how he was feeling and how he sees himself through all of their problems. I am really looking forward to your next chapter. I relly hope Ron and Hermione can work this out. Especially now that Harry and Ginny are working things out. Thanks so much for writing. I have added you to my favorites list. p

What do I think? I love it. Honestly, I love it!

There are probably lots of people out there who would say "this isn't like Ron" but I disagree. We're seeing a whole new side of Ron in book six and I think this could very easily happen. Every bit of it seems like something he would think or say. It's been building up for years and now it all comes spilling out.

Your diaglogue is great! I love how surprised Hermione is with every new thought coming from Ron's mouth. It's great seeing her confused for once, twice as great because it's Ron doing the confusing. I like how you had them speaking like real people. Writers so often get dialogue that's overly formal, but yours was so real. I think that's one of the reasons it seemed so much more like Ron.

I can't wait for more!
Friday 23rd February 2007 08:33Moods (Author Response)
I think Hermione has had her share in making everything so difficult, even if Ron's reaction (i.e. Lavender) was way off the mark. And I'm glad you find the dialogue realistic. That's good.

Really touching chapter, I can't believe teaspoon Ron feels that way. Poor sod. I hope Hermione knocks him flat. Giving up on her when she should be giving up on him, those two idiots. Haha. Can't wait to see what comes next. I also like how Ron was against Harry's decision to break up with Ginny, a lot of authors don't write it that way but I would tend to agree with/believe more your Ron's attitude. Nice job!
Friday 23rd February 2007 08:13Moods (Author Response)
Thanks. I thought that Ron might feel Harry had taken advantage of Ginny's feeling and get a little protective - which could be one of the reasons why Harry comes around.

This whole chapter felt so real that I nearly cried. Poor, poor Ron. Hermione is like a steamroller rolling blithely along, never realizing that she makes everyone she comes in contact with, feel like flat out losers. Good chapter. Make her stew for a while, she deserves it. Jeanne.
Thursday 22nd February 2007 14:38Moods (Author Response)
Does she? I think she had to stew during the greater part of HBP already. Still, that's the problem. JKR made Hermione the suffering part, but I think there are good reasons for Ron to get a little sympathy as well. Hermione hasn't been there just for the taking. I don't really think that she has been playing her cards very well.

Oh, why did you do this? I expected some anger, misunderstanding and huge variety of emotions, but certainly not this! But I'm not saying it's a wrong course of action If only Ron's "giving up process" is similar to Ginny's, then everyone will be happy (including me )
Just like every other "mood" story this one is brilliant and I really enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing it

My pleasure. - Just remember that Harry and Ginny are quite simple in their relationship ... compared to Ron and Hermione. So it's not really likely that the solution will be the same ...

Okay, I had to sit back and take a gulp of air before writing this.

This is brilliant. Unbelievably brilliant. Read over again and again brilliant. You capture emotions, physical reactions to emotions, internal dialogue and lace it with pathos and humor. Plus you ground the reader in the lives of older teens -- torn by physical wants and emotional turmoil.

You know your chracters inside and out and create sympathy for both of them -- both of them -- which is near impossible. I wanted this scene to go on and on -- I just loved listening to your dialogue.

I would quote certain sections, but I'd have most of the story in the review.
I don't think I've ever read anything that captured the inner psyche of Ron so well.

I've admired this piece, but hands down, this is my favorite chapter.

What can I say -- you're amazing.

To say that I envy the kind and number of reviews you get for the "Coven" is an understatement; i. e. I consider your review immense praise. Not the least, because you put my work into perspective for me.
I largely write on instinct. In this case, I didn't plan to create sympathy for both of them, but obviously did. That's extremely gratifying because I didn't mean to vilify Hermione, and also because I found this extremely hard to write. Creating the chapters around Harry and Ginny was a piece of cake, while this was months of work.

So, what can I say? - Thank you!

Great story!! I had kind of gotten out of reading fanfic for a while, for no reason other then I just have had a really busy work schedule and haven't felt like getting on the computer in my down time.

I got the update in my email that a new chapter was up just now and thought, what the heck, I can spare 10 minutes to read. I am SO glad I did. What a sweet emotional chapter.

Although....I DO kind of wish I had waited to read until part 5 as you left us on a monster of a cliffhanger

Oh my! I felt the very core of my being fall when Hermione realized that Ron was outside crying--brave, emotions of a teaspoon Ron crying. How that girl held it together without melting into an emotional pile of goo, I don't know.

This was such an insightful review of all the relevant and pivotal times in Ron's and Hermione's life and how they had affected Ron. You weaved such credible feelings into his explanations of his behavior over the years. It was nice to see a Ron that fully understood what he had been feeling, rather than one that was clueless. I think many people have a tendency to underestimate the depths of Ron's feelings and passions because of Harry's obvious passions. But, this chapter had Ron's displayed in such wonderful glory.

I must admit I wanted to shake Hermione during this chapter and point out that Ron was being the emotional mature one. The fact that it took her so long to let go of her previous and erroneous assumptions about Ron's emotional maturity made me want to scream. Thank goodness that brilliant mind finally clicked in.

I can only hope that Ron's revelation of why he was crying is enough for her to finally let go of her need to be in control, allowing herself to be vulnerable so that she can finally tell Ron how she really feels about him.

Oh, and I loved the part at the beginning that showed us Harry and Ginny were finding comfortable in each others' arms by finally getting a good night's sleep.

What a fantastic job of dissecting, analyzing, and presenting true and realistic feelings from our favorite four characters. I look forward to seeing what Hermione will do next.

Oh, wow! And ouch! Great analysis here. Hermione and Ron... misunderstanding each other so spectacularly, and now Ron has decided to give up on her. I guess the last part hit Hermione in her Solar Plexus like a ramrod. And I hope the conversation continues, that Hermione gets to explain and that they end up together, of course.

The beginning, with listening to soft snores, was incredibly sweet. H/G don't need each other to bounce around like over-eager rabbits at the moment, they need each other to finally get a good night's sleep. I hope R/H get to that point soon, too.

Thanks a bunch, as always. It is a pleasure to follow these moods.
