Bring Me to Life
Like I said last night, I didn't know what to expect from this chapter. I can say that it certainly wasn't that, though. I was looking for a step backward (or, perhaps, sideways), and instead you vaulted Harry and Ginny's relationship forward in another giant leap. And I'm not sure what to make of that.

I'm the kind of reader who prefers angst to pure fluff, who wants to see the characters have to earn their happy endings. That's why I was so intrigued and speculative about the dark overtones of this story. You've left that Harry-Voldemort connection out there so there's definitely still a way for you to work some more conflict into the story, but it certainly seems like your headed in other directions. And while that wouldn't have been my preference, I'll try to enjoy it for what it is.

That shouldn't be too hard as your writing remains as crisp and smooth as ever. You bring across Ginny's emotions particularly well, especially her wonder and self-doubt, and you know how to convey strong images of your scenes to the reader (I can easily picture Harry, Ginny and the artist in front of the statue). Plus, you obviously know when to lighten things up because the cabbie's dialogue was just hilarious.

So, while I might still be hoping for a bit of trouble in paradise at the end of this, I appreciate your hard work either way. Thanks!

KC,
Thanks for the thoughtful reviews. You might not guess, but the angst will be coming back, just not in this story (much). I'm halfway through the sequel and it does return full force. The happiness of Harry and Ginny is little more than an illusion; while the love is real the peace is not. Don't look for a resolution in this story because you won't find one. I decided to break the real story into two because where Harry's struggle ended (or so he thinks) Ginny's is only beginning. They will be companion pieces, two halves of a whole. Thanks for reading and reviewing! I hope you stick with it.

Now why hasn't anyone else come up with a Wizard cab (after all there's a Wizard bus) -- good show; but that cabby, a bit of a git; but he did give us a nice bit of comic relief ; he kind of grows on you.
Nice date.

Haven't seen a first date their before, it was a nice touch.

Although this whole broken spell one night married the next does seem to be rushing a lot.

Even I think they need to catch their breath.

Excellent job! I loved it. The Harry and Ginny interaction is wonderful! I hope nothing bad happens for the couple, adorable.

Thanks, but if nothing bad happened then there's the fun in that? Actually, other than a few minor setbacks, the rest of the story is fairly fluffy. Hope you enjoy it! Look for an update in a few days.

Harry sure likes to take his time doesn't he? (note sarcasm)

Great job with everything!!! I can't wait for the next chapter! I don't think the Vegas wedding is a good idea and I hope someone's sense kicks in.

Can't wait for more! See you next week! You did a terrific job!

Jessica... are you certain your last name isn't Weasley? Because I dount they'd approve either! You're not the only ones with concerns. Hmmm... wonder if they went through with it? Oh well, you'll just have to wait until the next update. I've sent it to my beta but, seeing as how it's Easter weekend, I'm not sure when I'll be getting it back. Most likely the update wll be early next week. Thanks, as always, for reviewing!

I'm really enjoying this story so far! I haven't had time to read the other reviews, so forgive me if I'm commenting on something that you've gone over already elsewhere, but I do have a question: are the periods of darkness/doubt that Ginny is experiencing due to Harry transferring his darkness to her, or due to normal hormones and questioning? I realize that there's a good chance that you're leaving it purposefully ambiguous, but I also know there's a decent chance that I'm just being dim. I had a baby 4 months ago and I think he took half of my brain cells with him when he left the womb. Looking forward to the next chapter!

The darkness in Ginny is the curse that Harry used on Voldemort. It affected him and he in turn passed part of it to Ginny. He's not totally cured, and she's not carrying all of it... it's like they're sharing it. A problem divided by half if still half a problem... Exactly what Ginny did and what the long term effects of it are on Ginny will be covered in the second part of this fic, which I'm writing. I won't publish it until it's finished. I promise, there is an answer and a more detailed explanation to come. In the meantime, just sit back and enjoy the romance. The next chapter will be out early next week - Wednesday at the latest, provided that I can get it back from my beta by then. I haven't turned in the chapter yet as I'm still rewriting it. Unfortunately, it needed more attention than I anticipated. I just wasn't happy with i the way it was. Hope to see you back and - from one mother to another - it's not the brain cells... those will come back. It's most likely the lack of sleep causing the problems! Congratulations and know... it does get better. And then they become pre-teens. *cry* What happened to my baby? I swear I think my oldest daughter has the most annoying whine on the face of the earth. It's far worse than the wails of a newborn, I assure you! Thanks for reading.

Oh my...I fear a dark time for Ginny...she seems to have absorbed the curse that Harry carried around...this does not bode well for either of them...very interesting and captivating story...I look forward to reading more!

Ginny's story is covered in Part 2 which I'm in the process of writing. There won't be a resolution on that score in this fic, so just enjoy the H/G romance while you can. If you liked this chapter, then the last couple are along the same lines bfore the angst comes back in Part 2. Look for an update by Wednesday if not sooner. It just depends on how fast I can finish the rewrite and get it back from my beta with her edits. With the holidays, it my not happen this weekend like I said in some reviews. Thanks for reading!

Oh dear, I can't help but feel that getting married in such a rush is a mistake. And what of the 'darkness' that has recently been imbued within Ginny? :-(
Saturday 7th April 2007 04:26Bring Me to Life (Author Response)
The chapter's almost ready to send to my beta, so look for it in a few days... early next week or by Wednesday at the latest. As for the darkness in Ginny... that issue will be a focus in Part 2, so just enjoy the romance of the rest of Part 1 while you can.

Well, Weasleys will be Weasleys, lol! I hope to have the chapter up around the regular time... probably Wednesday. I had hoped it would be sooner but it needed more work than I thought, and I haven't even sent it to my beta yet. Won't be long though...

Ohh I hope they do marry!. Don't be cruel, they deserved it, and certainly it would be something out of the ordinary, most fics leave the marriage to the end as if it weren't after the marriage that the real angst begin lol.
I'm following this fic since the beginning but I'm a little bad at the reviewing area, that's is why I didn't review it before, but I'm really enjoying it. I like it so much that I started reading all your past works. Last week I finished Home Alone and now I'm trapped with Shadow of the Serpent, and it seems I cant leave it alone until I reach the end, I only interrupted my reading of it for this update, and I'm writing this because I feel guilty for reading all your excellent fics and no leaving a single review.
I'm supposed to be reading my university books and not fan fic, but yesterday I came to the conclusion that the fastest I read Shadow of the Serpent the sooner I would be able to concentrated in anything else.
I know you soon wont be having a lot of time to write ( I'm in Melinda's mail list) but I hope you find the way to continue writing, not only your fics projects but your originals as well, you have a great talent.

I actually started by new job Friday. I'm sure I'll find a way to continue writing, but luckily this one is finished. I was hoping to update again this weekend, but the chapter needed more rewriting than I thought. Unfortunately, my brain isn't in it, so it's taken me longer than I expected. I haven't even sent it to my beta yet, but I hope to soon. However, don't expect it until the usual time... probably Wednesday. Sorry for the delay. Thanks for the nice compliments and I'm glad you're enjoying the other stories. They are quite different. Thanks for taking the time to let me know that you're liking them!

Well, I really did not see that coming in the last chapter. I saw the hints during the chapter. Wow! I hope they go for it! But for some reason I do not think they are going to do it. Something going to happen to make them wait. What that will be I do not know. I really like the fluff, too.

Bring Me to Life
In some ways. this was a chapter in which - "For one sweet moment life was simple; they were any new couple falling in love for the first time. "

On the other hand, something feels wrong about Harry's declaration- "...The worst mistake I ever made was giving you up and then sending you away. We've wasted so much timeā€¦ I want to spend the rest of my life making that up to you."

The reference to Tom's taunt in the Chamber of Secrets was chilling. Well done!

Thanks! I know that Tom called her "little Ginny" and not Ginevra in the CoS, but to distinguish his voice I used her formal name... something I can easily picture Tom doing. I'm glad you see the duality of moods going on here. That was one of the reasons I liked the title Fallen. It can have multiple meanings, too, can't it? Thanks for reviewing again!

Hey Kat! Another wonderful chapter! I remember this one too. My favorite part is the cab ride. I always get misty eyed when I read it. Harry is so special. I hope they get married. I don't think I've read past this chapter so I'm looking forward to the new chapters.

Dee

p.s. My daughter and I are listening to the Fallen cd as I'm typing. I love their new one the best tho. "The Open Door" Lacrymosa is my fav song. That and Lithium.
Talk to you soon

Dee, thanks for the lovely reviews. I think 5-7 are new, so it'll be interesting to see what you think of them. They are along the same emotional tone as these last two, but the angst will return eventually in the second part. So, you hope they get married, huh? A lot of people say that it's too fast, too sudden... Either way, I know in my heart that cannon H/G will end up married, so how smoothly it goes is the issue. I won't give away the answer to that question, but I will say that nothing is really easy for Harry or Ginny, including this story. Those dark undertones are still there, and as one reviewer said, they can't just ignore the problem and expect it to go away. It'll have to be dealt with sooner than later. Unfortunately, the later happens in Part 2. That's the "no real resolution" I was talking about. But for now, sit back and enjoy the romance. The next few chapters are chalk full of it. As for Evanescence... I still think Fallen is my favorite of the two albums. The lyrics are from "The Open Door - Losing Control". There were no lyrics for Fallen since it's the title of the ablum and not a song, so I borrowed some from another song. I liked the title too much to change it, since I think it has a double meaning that is just perfect for this story and this chapter. Not only have they Fallen in love, but they have also Fallen head first into something else as well, especially Ginny. If I say any more I'll be ruining it, so I'll just stop myself there. Thanks for reviewing!

I don't know if marriage is such a good idea right now. What with flashbacks and what not. On the other hand...might not be so bad after all. I can't wait for next week to find out if they really go through with it. Great chapter!

"He was slowly sending her over the edge of desire and into the land of pure need." I love this line.

I have re-read this again (paying close attention to the lyrics) and am still troubled by the niggling issue under the surface in Ginny. Ignoring it won't make it go away now will it?

And as for getting married? Not tonight they won't.
Tuesday 3rd April 2007 01:05Bring Me to Life (Author Response)
Well, you've got the idea then. Things aren't really all right, and no... ignorning it won't make it get any better. As for the proposal... well, on that subject you'll just have to wait and see. I may update by this weekend, actually. It just depends on my beta and how fast we can both get the edits done. I haven't even looked at them yet and even after she sends it back I usually add more. For instance... I think that line you just quoted was added during a last minute final FINAL edit. Thanks for reviewing!

Wow! That was unexpected. I'm glad they had such a good time on their date. Her dad giving his blessing at the beginning of their date was very good. Of course the Weaseley's have always loved Harry. I know Molly is not going to be happy about them eloping. The wedding of her only daughter is something I'm sure she has always looked forward to. Do they go through with eloping or do they give Molly a chance to give her daughter the wedding she wants? I know the darkness is there waiting to cause problems but I hope they can survive it. I loved the charm Harry gave Ginny. That was great. I look forward to the next chapter. Thank you for writing. p

Hmmm... I'd love to answer those questions, but I can't. Sorry. As for the charm... I think (hope) that even canon Harry has a romantic side buried deep inside. He really does love Ginny, both in this story and in canon. Glad you liked the Arthur bit - I did too. When I re-read it I couldn't see anything about that scene that I wanted to change, and that is amazing for me because I can always find things to improve. I may get the next chapter up by this weekend, so look for it soon. Thanks for reviewing! ~K~

Sigh... I am certain you did not put that reference to Tom saying Ginny "was mine, forever" as a filler. You do 'dark' so well I am worried where this is going. If it is just Harry asking her to marry him, all I have to say is "Jeez Harry, compensating much?"
Tuesday 3rd April 2007 00:52Bring Me to Life (Author Response)
Thanks. I know I tend to stick the blade in there at the end, but it just didn't seem appropriate anywhere else. Yeah, Harry is a little desperate, but who wouldn't be after what he's been through? The fallout is yet to come...
