Nice chapter. I was almost taken in by the Remus/Harry conversation. Of course, Areids had to be the one. It also explains why Aidan and he knew each other. But why did you have a cliffy in the middle of the chapter?

The Coven of Echoes
WOW!!! As usual, another amazing chapter. Sorry it took me so long to review this time but what with getting back from vacation and trying to schedule appointments, my summer job and preparing for my ballet intensive next week it's been really hectic around here!

But anyway, yep, Twigs was telling the truth! We spent part of an afternoon in Moab, Utah crammed around the hotel's computer, me sitting on the floor, Twigs reading chapter 23 and then switching. I think the hotel owners must have thought we were a little crazy! I know we both gasped out loud when we saw 'Coven' was updated!

On to the review! As I said, great chapter as usual. Very suspensful with Ginny and Tamsyn's confrontation- probably one of my favorite parts of this chapter:

"Just then she felt Tamsyn grip her arm. Ginny felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. Tamsyn was staring at her. “What?” she hissed. “No wand?”
Just then, the owls screeched; the geese beat their wings madly in distress. From far in the sky a magnificent hawk bulleted to earth. It shrieked in triumph."

I'd have to say my other favorite part would be the ending. Using the 'Chamber' scene- great idea! I literally got a chill when Areids started writing his name in the air and I realized what was about to happen! How long did it take you to come up with a name that was an anagram for "I am scarred" !?

Well, to wrap this up, loved 23, and I'm sure I'll love 24 just as much, which should be coming out today!

The Coven of Echoes
Hi hwimsey!

Let me first start by saying it is a mark of how great this story is that my sister sat on the lobby floor of our hotel in Utah, while I sat in the only chair read chapter 23 and then we switched. You see, we had a computer in our hotel, so after an exhausting day of hiking we were so excited to find you had up dated and took turns reading it!

Wow, where to start? Each chapter you add makes Coven so much more compelling! This one especially! You have left us with two cliff hangers this time! How could you!? Don't worry, it's a mark of the great writer you are. Not to mention I won't have to wait much longer for chapter 24 because I waited to send this review till I got home from vacation. Tomorrow is Tuesday...!

I must say I was surprised when Arieds revealed himself as the other scarred man. Although, unconciously I guess I already knew it would be him. How could he not, being such a dynamic character with a enigmatic past. I am a total HGshipper, but I have to say Arieds is one of my favorite characters in this story. He certainly keeps you on your toes!

But anyway, I loved how you incorporated the Chamber of Secrets seen into Coven. It just adds to Areids mystique and greatly builds the suspense!

Your description of the monostary was fantastic, I could totally see everything you described! That's what I love so much about you as a writer your descriptions are so articulate!

I'm axiously awaiting to hear what happens to Faith! Not to mention how much trouble with Areids Ginny will be. And of course with Tamsyn. Ginny herself is in danger now, not just Faith!

Well, you'll probably be getting another review tomorrow, so I'll wrap this one up so it doesn't get any longer.

I know I always say this, but it's so true, you're an amazing writer wimsey, and you astonish me with every new chapter you post!

Keep up the wonderfuk work!

The Coven of Echoes
Great chapter. Your descriptions of Tinturn Abbey and the imagery that those words invoked were breath taking. I loved how the gardens around the Abbey were alive with growth even when the weather outside was cold and chilly. The whole atmosphere around the Abbey was so centered and calm. No wonder Harry loved it there.

And I must stick up for Remus and all the other green tea drinkers of the world. It doesn't take like sock water. Not that I know what sock water tastes like. Tonks' comment was hilarious, though, even if I do love green tea.

I loved Harry's interaction with Aidan. And as for Areids' interaction with the monk, I am hoping that we will be able to find out the back story on that one soon.

And a encore performance by Lucy! Sounds like Lucy has good taste in people.

And now MK is swooping in and Ginny is without her wand. This can't be good.

Loved the big reveal at the end. Thank goodness I know some of the things that are going to be happening next or I would be nuts by now. Still, I can't wait to find out more.

The Coven of Echoes
My, but the closing Act is moving along quickly! I am surprised that Areids did not turn out to be evil, maybe even disappointed, but he is still not likeable and his history with Aidan and the Coven still has to be realized. I wonder if he has known all along that he was the scarred one too, the second one to be chosen to destroy the Letter along with Harry. Has he known all along?

I just loved the poignancy and romance that you have been introducing lately, this chapter focussing on the idyllic walk amongst the smells, colors and aura of the monastery leading up to the doors of Tinturn Abbey.

Ginny's words with Tamsyn in their brief encounters still leave me guessing as to how evil she is, and I was quite frankly expecting another confrontation between them. We'll find out if it is Hagrid or Lucy or Tamsyn that saves Faith from the plummeting hawk (Madam K), or if Madam K is able to get away with both Faith and Ginny with Tamsyn's aid. That scene will prove to be quite illuminating, but as Madam K has done in the past, she seems to be able to ceate illusions for people.

The big question now is how well will Harry and Marc work together in their three challenges to get to the Letter and destroy it. It appears the climax is coming quickly and I expect to see all the main protagonists there, ie, to include Ginny and Tamsyn, and for Tamsyn to finally be revealed as a traitor and to be disposed of by Ginny while Harry and Marc take care of Madam K. I just love fantasising about how the mystery will be solved.

I can't believe Ginny stayed put. I'm really finding that hard to believe. hehe.
Another outstanding chapter. I don't know how you do it. Must be a gift. I have a question. When you first decided to sit down and write CoE, did you have in mind what your beginning, middle, and ending would be? It seems as though everything just comes together so perfectly like you had written the entire story and went back to edit, adding things and substracting. However you're doing this, it's brilliant. Very!

I'm so glad that Harry and Ginny are back together. It's so obviously how much they love each other. I like how you threw in about the scent of the hillside and about the Amortentia. Nice. I wonder what familiar smell Harry had there. I'm sure it was something to do with our girl.

No surprise about Areids. I love how you had his name spell out "I am scarred" Again, very brilliant. Kinda figured that it would come down to him and Harry having to destroy the letter together. I giggled when Aidan said he had a meeting. I was like, "yeah, with Marc no doubt."

Now, back to Ginny and Faith. Something is telling me that if that hawk is about to snatch someone, it's going to be both Ginny and Faith. I could be wrong, but my mind's eye tell me that Harry and Marc will be working together for more than just one agenda.

What a wonderful story you have here. Kudos to you and everyone that works so hard on it. Keep up the good work.

Nifty little trick with the name. I've always found "Areids" an unusual name, but put it down to lack of experience.

On the one hnd I'm just so delighted that you're updating so fast! On the other, I can't even manage to get a review written before the next chapter comes out. I always - always - read the latest chapter the very moment I've got wind it's been published, but then I like to mull things over a bit. Sort of toss them around in my mind and generally read the chapter at least once more before sitting down to write my review. So, anyways, sorry to you and to Ivy that I can't seem to get my act together long enough to write something coherent each time, lol.

Anyhow!

In silence, as if the soul of Isle demanded it, they walked along the gravel path until they reached the base of a cragged hill.

You do such lovely anthropomorphic imagery. I just love it!

Too much praying and reading causes one to brood – don’t you think?

I actually snorted aloud at this. And I'm not much of a snorter. brother Thaddeus is great. Reminds me a lot of Dumbledore.

A whole lotta chapters ago I left a review in which I said something about looking forward to revisiting Iona later on. Your author's review basically laughed and said something along the lines of "who said we're going back to Iona?" For the record: a) I was so right (though admitedly I was wrong about when we made it back...)! and b) it was worth the wait to go back to Tinturn. I can picture it all clearly, and it's just grand.

I'm trying to figure out what the background is between Aidan and Areids. I can't figure out how they would have known each other beforehand, living across the ocean from each other, and for the fact that Areids seemed truly incensed to know that Harry knew who Aidan was when he personally had no idea. Which makes me think that however they met previously they did so under somehow assumed names. I'm sure we'll see more of this storyline at some point.

I think it's safe to assume that Fawkes actually is the statue on the fountain. Which would somehow make sense considering we know Dumbledore was a former Coven member and a friend of Aidan's. And since there's nothing in Fantastic Beasts to contradict it, I'm guessing that's what's going on.

I have no idea how you're going to wrap everything up in the next few chapters, but I will, of course be waiting to find out!

I knew it, I knew it was Marc. Even though I still don't like him. This should be interesting. What about Ginny though, I'm thinking she is in some serious trouble. It looks like she might just get her wish to go along on the trip with them, though not is quite the way she pictured. Another fabulous chapter, I do so love this story. Can't wait til next week.

MK is coming???? Never fear...Lucy's here.

Tamsyn is either filing her nails or grabbing Ginny

Well I was right about Marc. I did think he was the other. Clever use in creating his name for sure.

I loved this chapter! But it's all coming to an end

O no that bloody mad gypsie women is after ginny again y?

I think faith is adorable. Lucy like everything that is in contact with Hagrid seems well tame.

i Had a feeling that the American was the other one to destroy the letter, but it was still a shock to have my suspicions confirmed.

The abbey is really amazing i could actually picture everything they were doing especially ron and the pastries

Loved it! I couldn't stop reading. I was excited to see an update already. I liked Aidan telling Harry he should be a monk and Harry's response. So what's with the hawk??

The Coven of Echoes
I cannot help but feel a sense of forboding due to the appearance of the hawk at Hogwarts. Its cry of triumph(?) seems most sinister, especially with only Lucy to protect Faith.

The Abbey came alive for me with your descriptions; it must have been the balm to the soul that Harry needed when he lived there. And even though the news of who the second wizard has been revealed here the Abbey probably holds the answers the two need to complete their mission. As Friar Aiden would probably say, God only gives us what we can bear, working in mysterious ways.

Loved it! Especially the sock water, I laughed at that for about 5 minutes. =) The description of Tinturn Abbey was amazing and it sounds like it would be really amazing to actually see.

Hope you enjoy your vacation!

A remarkable chapter. Tinturn Abby is described in glowing language.

The nasty French Auror is more revealing. Watch out Ginny and Faith!

So Harry and Marc must work together. Hmm...

Have a renewing vacation. Hope to see you later.

So, Ginny forgot the whole constant vigilance thingy. What is she thinking? She's got to stop being so petulant when it comes to anything Harry asks of her.

Oooh! This is starting to get quite intense! I liked this chapter, but it will probably be the last sort of laid back one for a while... I'm looking forward to the climax though! That'll probably be really intense!
What happened to Faith??? Did the hawk capture her??
That's interesting with Marc being the other man.. I didn't expect that!
I'm looking forward to the next chapter!

With you starting your travels, I hadn't expected another chapter so soon, what a wonderful surprise!

I CAN'T BELIEVE AREIDS IS THE OTHER MAN! I began to suspect it part way through the chapter. What a twist! So perfect, I can't wait to see how he and Harry go through the 3 trials and get the letter. *swoons* This chapter, and this story is so wonderful. I loved it and I love both you and Ivy for doing such a marvelous job on this spellbinding tale.

Great job!

Sooooo....Harry and Marc. I certainly was sniffingup the wrong track thinking the two would be Harry and Ginny! They should make a great pair...like The Odd Couple! **grin**

And the hawk has grabbed Faith? I suppose this means that Ginny and Tamsyn will scamper off to confront Madam K? I wouldn't want to be the one to have to tell Arieds --or Harry-- that I stood by as a hawk carried off his daughter! **shudder**

Thanks for the link to the Cloisters, I will check it out while playing Mendelsson's little ditty. Have a wonderful vacation!
