Wow!! Absolutely fab! For me this is exactly what I imagined would happen after the final chapter of DH before the epilogue. The way Ginny is so caring and concerned about Harry is so sweet and I just love the end of the chapter where Molly relents after seeing Harry and Ginny together, brilliant!
You have a lovely writing style and this particular story would not have been out of place in the slightest if it had been included at the end of DH. I really hope that you continue to write as I think it would be a waste if you stopped now. |

This was a wonderful wonderful story. I really liked Ron's line "It's just sleep, Mum. We need it." It said so much so simply. I really liked the flow of this as well. Nicely done! |

Thank you SO much. Even for such a short stint, I was concerned about writing in other characters..I struggled with making them "true" to themselves. I found it best to just let the lines come, rather than trying to think too hard about them. I am thrilled you enjoyed the story!! |
Felix Felicis Thursday 20th September 2007 18:10 | In the Dawn |
What a beautiful story. You write with such deep, moving emotion that I really feel myself pulled into the scene. I can't say exactly how many times my chest tightened up reading this. The emotions were so close to the surface throughout.
All in all, this was very true to the story and to what they would really have been feeling. Your repeated descriptions of Harry's exhaustion were so real, and your depiction of Ginny's caring for him so honest, it brought back memories of times like that in my own life. That's a sign of a good writer: you make the reader really feel the story by touching them in some way that makes them associate what's happening with something in their own life. Either that or you describe it so well that they feel like they've had that experience themselves. I particularly liked the constant swing of emotions. They're exhausted but they're in love. They're remembering the fallen but they see hope for the future. Excellent storytelling! Thank you for sharing this with us! |

I am left with my mouth hanging open...the response has been overwhelming and I cannot say 'thank you' in enough adequate ways. Every author hopes for reviews like yours! Thank you SO very much...I sincerely appreciate your feedback and knowing your thoughts and emotions as you read through the story. I am glad that some of the tumult of emotions I was envisioning actually came across - this was a MAJOR missing moment from the end of DH as compared with the "ends" of previous books, and we just didn't get some of that "recovery" we were used to.
I am thrilled you enjoyed it and am so very pleased with all the wonderful feedback. |

Oh please write more I loved it! I think you've captured the feelings Harry and Ginny would have directly after the battle perfectly. I also liked how innocent and sexy it was all at the same time. Well done. Welcome to Phoenixsong I hope you stay around. |

This was so well written! I've just finished my second read-through and liked it even better than I did the first time. Please continue with this story. There's so much missing between the last chapter & the Epilogue and I'd love to see you fill in some of the missing pieces.
Well done!

Great story! It's not done, is it?
Ginny suffered at Hogwarts while Harry and Co. were gone. DH said they were hit with the Cruciatus just for getting a detention. Please help Harry, Ron and Hermione also come to know just what Ginny, Neville and Luna did to "hold down the fort" and also spearhead a student-lead rebellion while they were gone. |
tinabell Monday 10th September 2007 13:59 | In the Dawn |
Lovely. Just lovely.
Made me tear up here: he crossed to the window he had once managed to wedge his lanky pre-teen body into. Gripping the stone ledge as he looked out upon the sunrise-lit grounds, he felt his breath quicken and his eyes sting with the tears he'd denied downstairs, grief crashing into him with astonishing force.
My favorite part. So descriptive and wonderful and warm: "Harry?"
The tentative voice hushed his sobs, and swallowing, Harry slowly lifted his red-rimmed eyes towards the door. He blinked. Ginny stood there, her own pale face smudged with dirt amidst her freckles, her scarlet hair disheveled, watching him with an expression of such wariness that Harry was at a loss for what to say. She straightened a bit, but her eyes did not waver. She was beautiful.
"Ginny," he breathed.
Abruptly, Harry strode across the room and, taking her face between his hands, he cast any and all pretense aside. His mouth crushed against hers with reckless abandon and he felt her arms wind around his neck, pulling them impossibly closer. Gathering her in his arms and groping his way up her back, his hands found her thick hair, gently easing her head to the side, deepening their kiss. Her mouth opened to his at his very wish and he thought he just might cry out with the sheer pleasure of kissing her like this – in every way he never thought possible; in every way he'd thought lost as he faced his death mere hours earlier.
Thank you.

Oh, this was wonderful! Welcome, and please stay! I'd love to read more of your delightful writing. You capture Harry and Ginny very well, and I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. Thanks so much for letting Harry have a good cry. We heard so much at the end of DH about how he was bottling things up to think about later - it'd have to come out at some point.
Bravo! |

Oh that was delightful. I love Harry having a good cry. I cried when Harry cried about Dobby!
The bath was so innocently sexy. And I had the warm fuzzies from the flannel PJ's on. Falling asleep on Ginny's lap...
I love it so much. Please stay and write many many stories. |
Sunday 9th September 2007 16:24 | In the Dawn (Author Response) |
Yes, a good cry. I hope it was long enough to get everything out!
And I was going for "innocent", yet "sexy", in the bath scene...that's a good way to describe it! I'm glad it came across that way; it's kind of how I envision this early stage of their relationship with all the tension, unresolved and unfamiliar feelings, etc.
And warm fuzzies, galore! Thanks for your feedback! I sincerely appreciate it. |
shellybaby620 Saturday 8th September 2007 23:22 | In the Dawn |
This story was simply beautiful. I think that is exactly the way I pictured the events after Harry, Ron, and Hermione left Dumbledore's office. I love how Ginny shows and gives incredible care to Harry in his time of need, that was written in such an incredibly tender and romantic way that it made this story unique. I think the ending of this story could possibly lead to other chapters of this wonderful story, which I am sure a lot of people would like to read. Thank you for this story, it was a joy to read! |
Sunday 9th September 2007 16:26 | In the Dawn (Author Response) |
Yes, that is exactly why I had to write the thoughts down...I felt we were sorely missing elements such as this with the surprisingly abrupt ending to the book. We usually get more "let down" pages at the end of the books than we did in this one.
I am thrilled you enjoyed it, and sincrely appreciate your feedback. Thank you so much! |

I love this story. I actually read it on ff.net already but I don't leave reviews there. It's perfect...Ginny taking care of Harry, the bath and sleeping together and it's all totally innocent. I love Ron standing up to his mum and then him getting mad when she says its ok for Ginny and Harry to sleep together. Great story and I hope to see more stories from you, perhaps a continuation of this one??? |
Saturday 8th September 2007 12:02 | In the Dawn (Author Response) |
I am most humbled that you read the story twice; thank you SO much for your feedback. It is an innocent little piece, with enough innuendo mixed in. I felt this was true-to-character, at least initially. Ron standing up to his mum was a testament to what he's been through and that he's starting to find his own position out there. I don't know about a continuation, but every once in awhile, I see plot bunny ears poking out of their burrows.... |

Welcome to Phoenix Song! This was a wonderful post-battle story, and I love the tenderness that Ginny took care of Harry with. His utter exhaustion jumps right off the page, and you really did a great job at mixing in appropriate levels of love, embarrassment and trust between the two of them.
Great job! |

Thank you! I appreciate your feedback here, and at LJ. I did try to get a realistic grasp on some of the things they were feeling...they're obviously attracted to one another, but in new and unfamiliar territory; never mind everything they've both just endured. Glad it came across that way! |

First of all, welcome! and second, I simply love this. Just wish you'll make a full story of it, with some chapters, like, what happened later at the Burrow, and stuff like that. Hope to read more from you. |

Thank you for the kind words of welcome! I am honored to post here. I am glad you enjoyed the little short; and while I cannot promise any kind of continuation, I cannot deny that I've had a few ideas. Awww, I loved it. I ususally don't leave reviews here on PS (no reason, I just don't. In fact, this may very well be the only one I've ever left here.) but after reading this story I really just had to tell you how well done I though it was. I especially love Molly's acceptance of the sleeping situation because it was Harry. She always did like him best. Haha, so anyway, I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this and thank you so much for sharing! |

Well thank you very much! I am honored and humbled to have brought you out of 'reviewer lurkdom'. I appreciate your feedback and knowing that you enjoyed the story enough that it prompted you to post. I am glad that Molly came across as 'in-character' to you; I struggled with how to play that whole scene out and still keep it ending the way I wanted, but having a typical 'Mrs. Weasley' sort of reaction. |

Fluff! It's the spice of life, I tell you! Loved it, of course. You did a beautiful job of incorporating thought and action, especially when Harry's about to fall asleep all those times. And I really liked the little bit at the end with Ron, Hermione, and Mrs. Weasley. and forever! I hope we can see more from you in the near future! |
toskin Thursday 6th September 2007 21:37 | In the Dawn |
Excellent story. I think you've captured all the characters' personalities really well, especially Harry's and Ginny's. I've always felt like Harry would treat Ginny respectfully and wouldn't be too quick on the physical side of a relationship due to his lack of having demonstrative parental figures(Petunia and Vernon). You've protrayed that well. Keep writing. I look forward to reading your next fic. |
hp4-sauce Thursday 6th September 2007 21:09 | In the Dawn |
This was outstanding. Everything flowed so smoothly - the storyline, the dialogue - the whole thing. And Harry and Ginny were so very much in character. One of the best post-DH fics I've read. Hope you do write some more on PhoenixSong. |

That’s a lovely piece, well crafted and the perfect balance of emotion and humour. I love losing myself in stories like this. I enjoyed everyone’s part. It felt like a fulfilment of the series, in a way, harking back to Harry sitting in the window frame and visiting the prefect’s bathroom, for example. Lovely story, thanks for sharing it. |

HI. Welcome to Phoenix Song. I reviewed this story at ff.net already, but couldn't resist re-reading it here at PS.
I LOVE this story and would dearly love to see another chapter or two. Or even a few sequels.... Any chance of that happening? Please. Just think about it.
You've got a great story here to build off of. You could easily turn this into a wonderful multi-chapter fic or a great series of one-shots. Seriously, please think about it. |

It's sweet and a really good piece of writing - I'm certainly glad I read it! I love the images and the mood - I can just about feel the utter exhaustion myself. It's a bit slow - but this story needs it, so that's not a problem - in fact, it's possibly an asset (I'm no literary major, professional reviewer or anything, but perhaps the rather low tempo contributes to the exhaustion and weariness...?)
This is certainly a really good piece of writing! Hope to read more from you, and soon! |
GhostWriter Thursday 6th September 2007 07:34 | In the Dawn |
What a great story!
A very nice read. I think you perfectly captured the bone-weariness must have been feeling after the battle ended. I thought it was very sweet for to so innocently help him clean up.
Nice bits with , and Molly. I hope you'll treat us to some more of your writing. |

Oh, this is lovely. OHGinnyfan and Sherry both sent out an e-mail to the rest of the admins telling us that we *had* to read this when it got posted, and then Parakletos recd it in his group this morning, and wow. I just absolutely love the emotions that you portray in this. Harry's exhaustion is so real.
One thing I absolutely love is that you had Harry cry. He needs to, the poor boy, and I can't imagine him going through everything he'd just gone through without breaking down at the end. I love that Ginny took care of him. I love that he had the knee-jerk reaction to the bottle falling (that doesn't just go away as soon as the war is over).
This is a beautiful story, and I hope to see more from you!

Oh, I hope you write many more stories! There were so many good parts but I think I liked this best-
"None of this 'hanky panky' stuff you teenagers are liable to get into… and keep an eye on your sister, Ron… not that I don't trust Harry implicitly…" She threw a fond glance at Harry's sound-asleep form and fell silent.
"Yeah, yeah… I get it. It's just sleep, Mum. We need it."
Molly Weasley let out a disgruntled sigh and turned to go. But as she descended the steps from the dormitory, however, she found she could not help smiling at the images she had of her future grandchildren…
That's my Molly! |
