I just wanted to let you know that someone has rec’d your story and I have posted a link to it in the new HP LJ community http://community.livejournal.com/hpmssgmoments, or Harry Potter Missing Moments, as well as its search site. Your story fits nicely into canon and makes a nice addition to our archives. Please feel free to come over and take a look at what we are doing and your entry (posted under "Dogs of War"). We are a small group at the moment, but we hope to get your story some new readers and some new reviews as we grow.

Oh my, Oh my, this is favourite one so far - it is just perfect and has everything, the happy, the sad, the laughs, the tears not to mention some truely great characterization!

an amazing story just so moving and the injustice of the situation is horrible. hard to imagine what it would be like to feel the longing for someone you care for so much

such a powerful story. I have tears in my eyes after reading the last part. It's just so unfair and I think you captured it beautifully.

One of the saddest part is the Harry/Hermione situation. They are both hurting so much, but still not helping each other deal with the pain. Harry because he doesn't know how to help or even that he can help, and Hermione because she doesn't know what to say.

Fab! I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Ginny told the Death Eater where to shove her essay!! Loved it, you captured all the emotions and the characters well and the story flowed well. Great job!!

I have to admit that is a scene I'm very tempted to write.

This was wonderful! I can picture them both looking back on good times as it get harder and harder to be away from each other. You characterized them beautifully and realistically and everything fit together nicely. Great job!

thank you, this actually came from taking to a mate about both Harry and Ginny looking back on the goodtimes and one of us saying, what if that happened at the same time.

This is fantastic. It gives you such a warm feeling, and the emotions in your stories are amazing. Not only the relationship of Harry and Ginny, but the friendship between Nev and Ginny, and the helplessness Harry feels when he can't comfort Hermione, everything is beautiful. I seriously love your work!

Oh, and Snape. Terrific
Saturday 12th January 2008 15:59Longing (Author Response)
I think that friendship was a very important part of DH, so I'm glad that came across.

As for Snape, I pretty sure this was the first time I wrote him, so i'm happy you liked him.

This is just wonderful. I love the balance of drama and tension with romance and happiness - you've captured the essence of each side so beautifully. Everyone just seems perfectly in character - Neville, Snape, McGonagall - everyone, but especially Ginny and Harry of course. This is the kind of story I wish I could have written - but I assure you, it's much better left in your hands.

Oh that was perfect Kathryn, just perfect.
I loved the different point of views, the flashbacks and the descriptions of the growing love between Harry and Ginny and the friendships between the others.
It followed DH perfectly.

Cheers, I think one of the main themes in DH was friendship. I think its very telling that Ginny is the one that mentions Neville in the epilogue.

I found it a good story, I liked to read about what ginny went through at school, though I didn't like to read about her suffering I think it is needed to build the story.

I think Ginny suffered a lot in DH at Hogwarts. I mean, I Snape and very likely the Carrows knew about her relationship she had had with Harry. Likewise she is a Weasley and it is known that nearly her whole family are Order members. Add to that she actually fought Carrow in the Hogwarts raid in HBP. She is a big target, and thats without even thinking that she helped run the DA (look what happened to Neville) and is hardly one to stay quiet at what is happening. My bet is that Ginny had a very hard year.

I think you could tell Harry was falling in love with Ginny at the end of HBP when he breaks up with her, and in DH for me it was really absence make the heart grow stronger.

If you want missing moments that include both Harry and Ginny, you really have to go to HBP, theres not too many from DH, especially of the happier nature unless you count those 19 years.

This is very well written. I especially like the scenes of Harry and Ginny's "happy moments"...they're very sweet, but not too fluffy

As another reviewer mentioned, this was an excellent look into life at Hogwarts and what was happening there while the students were supposedly safe. Great references to Luna and Neville and their part in keeping the DA going. Beautifully done.

Oh I think Hogwarts was very dangerous place to be especially for someone like Ginny. Molly must have had kittens that year at the thought of having to send her back, especially knowing that Ginny would hardly stay quiet over what was happening there. I wouldn't be surprised if Ginny came home for holiday with a few injuries.

Great references to Luna and Neville and their part in keeping the DA going.

Another excellent piece.

I'm glad you have shown Ginny's experience at Hogwarts too, so many fics wash over it. Just because she was at Hogwarts, does not mean that she was safe!

Oh I think Ginny was in alot of danger at Hogwarts, as a Weasley, Harry Potter's (ex)girlfriend and as someone who fought Carrow in HBP, plus she was a sitting target in a way as in the school there was probably not too many places for her to hide.

Kathryn,

I thought the contrast between the bad things that were happening to Harry and to Ginny and the earlier happier times worked well.

I look forward to reading more.
