hahaha!!! I loved this
I can imagine what they do to former students who are now proffesors... especially when they were former prankers :p

Yes, I imagine the other teachers enjoyed the chance to get some "revenge" at last...

Thanks for your comment!

It's a sweet story, and you have a very good grasp on Remus' feelings of longing to belong. I always thought there was a sense of humor lurking in Minerva , too! For one thing, she'd have to have a sense of humor AND of practical joking to have survived as a student at Hogwart's with a name like "Minerva"! Greek goddess or no, the other students would have teased her about it.

Thank you! Remus comes across as a calm confident teacher in PoA, but it must have been hard for him to go back to Hogwarts. I think you may be right about Minerva, too -- although the wizarding world doesn't seem to shy away from odd names...

I loved this, very well done. Great job Minerva, way to prank a marauder.

you did a very good job. I can't wait to read other things you write.

Excellent prank there at the end.I always thought McGonagall had a bit of humor hiding in her somewhere.

Ahh..this is truly wonderful. Touching (with Remus' memories ) and hilarious at the same time. I do wish you would write more stories, preferably a good long one. I've just re-read your "Playing Hippogrif" from last December and that one, like this one will, went into my favourites file. You have such a wonderful grasp of character, particularly that of Remus.

Although I was pretty sure before DH that JKR was going to kill off both Remus and Tonks, when I got to the part when we found out that Tonks was pregnant, I was sure that I was wrong. So to have them both die after all, made theirs one of the most painful deaths for me. And, IMO, somewhat uneccessary. I know the point JKR was trying to make, the horror of war, but I think that was a bit too much.

Also, I was always puzzled by how little interaction Harry and Remus had after PoA (not even exchanging letters ) and even more so after OotP when they could have consoled each other as the two people closest to Sirius. I suppposed that it was a case of too many characters and too much ground to cover as it was. So any story featuring one of the more underused characters of the Potter canon is always welcome. Especially when it's this well done. Please Sir/Ma'am, I want some more.

Thanks for the kind words! I'm a slow writer, but if you really want more, try my LiveJournal (shimotsuki.livejournal.com). There's a link in the sidebar for "index of all stories," and if you like Remus/Tonks, I've got a series in progress called Kaleidoscope that's linked from there. I'll be posting it here eventually too, but not until I've written the whole thing.

I agree with a lot of your remarks about Remus in canon, except that being naive, I never saw the R/T deaths coming at all -- I always thought Tonks was a sign that JKR was giving Remus, unlike the other Marauders, hope for the future. *deep sigh*. As you say, I certainly would've liked to see more interaction between Harry and Remus too; one plausible backstory for why we didn't would be (for GoF/OotP) Remus trying not to interfere in the Harry-Sirius dynamic -- shades of his taking a back seat to the Sirius-James friendship of old. By HBP, of course, Remus is trying not to drag everyone down with him, or so he thinks.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Having been a teacher in this same situation (a student returning to teach at the school I went to eleven years after I left) I know exactly how Remus feels. It really is strange to address your former teachers--now collegues--by their first names! I had to smile that some of James' predictions were actually true and that Minerva McGonagall is the big prankster I always thought she was! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Thank you for your comment -- I'm glad you found the scenario plausible! Lupin comes across in PoA completely calm and collected, but surely it must have been odd for him when he first went back.

Hee!

Lovely, just lovely. You manage to take what could have been either a fluffy or a maudlin setup and keep it focussed and specific enough that we never get lost in the knowledge of what's to come for Remus. Well done!

I really enjoyed reading this little story. I think having a Marauder on the staff would be advantageous as Remus would know all the secrets behind the pranks! As long as he wasn't too much of a spoilsport, but then with his history and friends I don't think he could be! Great job!

Thanks for your comment! Yeah, I imagine Lupin would've been good at keeping students from getting into too much trouble while being sympathetic to their point of view...

Wonderful, wonderful scene! I enjoyed that so much. His reflections on his school years and friends, and the easy companionship of all the teachers ... and the fantastic finale - it was all really good!

Aww, thank you! I'm glad you liked it, and that you thought the finale worked. I just can't see Lupin coming back to Hogwarts without having to deal with his past, at least a little.

I LOVED this story! Oh I loved Minerva's
"Some of us, [i]Professor Lupin, have very long memories."
line... it was so funny! And I bet the professors loved having a marauder as a teacher. Oh the irony! It was a great story! I love Lupin, so I was of course happy to see one featuring him! Great job! I know I loved it!

Thanks for the encouraging words -- I'm glad you liked the story! I bet a lot of the teachers had a secret soft spot for the Marauders.
