No troll and no stone (so far)? Voldy put his plans on hold(y)?

This chapter also had ONE HUGE GLARING FLAW! Harry left a quality book, like "The Dirty Dozen" in place of Riddle's diary! That is an outrage and completely OOC for one as: intelligent, ruthless, and inhumanly prepared as your Harry. He would have left something awful but fitting in the diary's place. Probably "Ulysses" by James Joyce.

Otherwise, an absolutely brilliant chapter and a very satisfying story.
Thank you!

WOW, that was quite the kick-arse chapter! Gung-ho Harry! I really like the interactions with Kreacher. I know I'm repeating myself, but I wish you'd write an extended version with all the filled in bits. Ah well, I guess I'll have to go read your other works. Darn.

An extended version? Maybe someday, but honestly, it's really not very likely. I think the A/N on the end of Ch5 paints the picture pretty completely, and the rest is just a bit of mental exercise for the readers -- and they can spin their own favorite scenes. Now, if you'd like to try writing a version of this, feel free to borrow liberally Cheers!

I'm glad so many people find this work so appealing. It's kind of surprising, really, the level of reaction this work garnered. Cheers.

I'm loving this story - bad Harry makes such a change! I can only hope that all his plans don't go awry!

Ahhh, bad Harry. Bad boy, or just plain bad? It's all relative, now isn't it? Glad you're enjoying it.

Wow! Talk about fast.

This has been very so far.

Please tell me that gets it in the end.

I don't feel a bit sorry about the demise.

Glad you enjoyed it. Has anyone suggested you may have an icon addiction? No? That's okay, it might just be my browser. At any rate, given the premise, it really is an exercise in knock-the-dominoes-down, although not quite as fast as he could have done it. There was some time lapsing that was required, after all. Cheers!

I'll be waiting - Ginny A little short of a St. Margarets' romance, but a nicely fluffy line!

So Harry plans on giving up his prescience once his plans are complete? Sort of like canon!Harry: Power is merely the tool, not the objective.

Despite the deliberate homage to NoFP at the opening, this fic is intriguing in its own right (or is that own write?).

Awww, you think St.M. is a better fluff-purveyor? Well, I can't argue with that one. I know I'm a far, far cry from that type of writing, and she's quite good at it.

Glad you enjoyed it. And not once did I warn you to put on your seatbelt. (Pay attention to those preface A/Ns on Echoes. You'll see that warning ... later.)

Wow, quick and dirty, I love it! I gather he's going to take on the Tom in Quirrell-mort's head next? I'm really enjoying this, and am in awe of how tight you're keeping it.
Monday 7th January 2008 23:34Natural Order (Author Response)
Glad you're enjoying the story. Taking on Tom is a task all in its own right, so to speak, and the mental fortitude to handle the confrontation is nothing to sneeze at. Cheers.

Short by pretty good. Although I really like NoFP, You've done reasonable job of compacting that and going in a different direction. There doesn't seem to be enough difficulties for Harry though. It's almost too easy for him.JavaScript:smiley('');

Too easy? Likely. I hope the A/N on the end of Ch5 helped explain some of that, but the other major factor is that I don't want to be writing twin stories of 2+M words at the same time. It's not fair to any readers, really. So, I think of this as more of a proof-of-concept story, and then readers can sketch in the details they'd like to see as a fun mental exercise. Cheers.

This story rocks quite hard. Will QuirrellMort notice the distruction of the Horcruxes? Now Harry'll just have to kill quirrell, and everything will be over. It sounds like he wants to forget everything from the alternate future, it will be interesting to see if he succeeds. I'm eagerly looking forward to more. Keep writing!

Glad you've found the story so compelling. Canon V never really noticed the destruction of his crusties, so it's hard to say what he did or did not figure out... but yes, Harry is moving hard and fast in this story. Cheers.

I am intrigued and excited about this fic. Really I didn't think about it but voldy created all of he elements necessary to destroy himself. If the evil git didn't create a basilik then they couldn't have easily destroyed the horacruxes. Leave it to Jo to have him be completely self destructive. Anyway the story has awesome insight on that fact. Can't wait to read further installments!

Glad you're finding fun thoughts lurking in this little story. It's much more fun to write short stories, I think, since I can trivially gloss over things. I find it harder in Echoes to gloss over anything that really defines a character or a motivation, and thus the length difference. Ol' Snakey does have a few peculiar blind spots, now doesn't he?

Wow...this chapter moved quickly. Very well done, considering what you had to include.

Strong ending without dialogue showing Kreacher's futrue choice. Not surpirsed you received such a strong reaction from readers. Original treatment of the redo story.

Very efficient dealing with the Horcruxes. Great that Harry made Kreacher a priority. I still can't quite get around offing Draco in the first chapter, but Harry is certainly goal driven. I look forward to the next 2 chapters.

Glad you're enjoying it, despite the acts of the first chapter. Did the A/N on Ch5 help you understand the first chapter sequence and the motivations therein?

This is an interesting piece of ff so far. I don't mind it being only 5 chapters, especially with how quickly the first three came out. It's interesting how you're including DH even though you're completely re-writing what actually happened to make Harry able to kill without mercy. I mean, what he did to Malfoy was pretty messed up, but Malfoy did kill Ginny in the original timeline, so I guess he deserved it. Anyway, can't wait to read the next chapters, keep up the good work!

Glad you're enjoying it. Hopefully, the A/N on the end of Ch5 helped make things more clear for the why and wherefore of some of the first chapter's acts. This story would be DH compliant to near the point of the Gringotts raid, technically, so that's why it's close-but-no-cigar to the canon timeline. Of course, having Bk7 done before starting it lets me short-circuit a lot of the ambiguity other fics have to contend with in the re-do scenarios.

Interesting. I have to say I am surprised you have Harry changing the timeline so fast. Hopefully you don't leave it at the point where Harry's little quest is over and just leave assumptions. It would be interesting to see your ideas as to how the rest of the years would turn out as well.
Monday 7th January 2008 23:26Natural Order (Author Response)
This is the antithesis to slow and careful. The future was already so horrid, how could it really get that much worse? Just change it all, to hell with the planning beyond what's actually critical, and go for broke. Make the waves huge, swamp the system, and keep jamming a big stick into those sensitive spots. Ah well. I hope by now you've finished the story, and found the ending rewarding enough. I don't like to spell out everything in an end, I prefer to leave it open to interpretation with some key focal points defined. I'm glad you've enjoyed it thus far, though. Cheers.

Wow - go Harry! I love well written changing-the-past fics, and yours is awesome. No time wasting - why would Harry waste time when he can live the life he deserves and get it right?

Great job, can't wait for more. Did you want to make it longer?
Monday 7th January 2008 23:24Natural Order (Author Response)
Time wasting? A wasted time is a terrible waist! Oh, wait... nevermind. I could have made it longer, I suppose, but it doesn't really need it. My main story also requires most of my free time, and I don't think it would be fair to launch two different 2M word epic sagas at the same moment. Bad for me, bad for you, bad all around. Glad you're enjoying it, though.
