I have read this before, but on re-reading it, I think it is worthy of being used as the penultimate chapter of J.K.R.'s final book. Good writing. |

This was great I LOVED it. Thanks for sharing. |

If I was Hermione, I would go on for at least three feet of parchment about how amazing the story was at attacking all the little details but also at pulling together the big picture, as well as many other technical writing facts and techniques that were used wonderfully in your story. But I happen to be a lot more like Ron so I'll get straight to the point:
That was bloody brilliant, mate |

Those last two paragraphs in particular say so much and that peace is what we need in this dominator product of a world. Once there was a world where men and women worked together as these four have worked together. Even though their roles were different, no one was superior (as in ruler or "I'm better than you") but each had their strengths and weakness and used them to help and love each other. Yes love is the answer.
Thank you for this wonderful moment in time. |

I just wanted to let you know that I have rec’d your story and posted a link to it in the new LJ HP community hpmssgmoments, or Harry Potter Missing Moments. Your story fits nicely into canon and makes a nice addition to our archives. Please feel free to come over and take a look at what we are doing and your entry (posted under "The Dogs of War"). We are a small group at the moment, but we hope to get your story some new readers and some new reviews as we grow.

Thank you for an extremely satisfying story - something I was a bit surprised that J.K. didn't do. You are a great writer! |

Wow! I'm so impressed at how beautifully you've captured this moment in time. As others have said, I like that it's not overdone. I found your writing to have a very realistic feel, especially the way you've highlighted that being able to smile, laugh and joke in such sombre times is just as important and comforting as saying those 'serious' things that come straight from the heart. The tone is perfect for the situation and the people involved, and your characterisations spot on.
What I also really love is the way you've got the best of both worlds where Ginny is concerned. I believe that, as much as we all love Ginny, the simple fact is that she's not one of the three who have been best friends and nigh on inseperable for 7 years, and she didn't share their experiences over the year they spent out and about on their mission. BUT, this does not mean she'll ever be on the outer of the trio, as she shares a special bond with each individual. It makes your piece all the more believeable for me that H,R & H get their moment (perhaps even their final moment...) as a trio to recognise what they've been through and done together before they are joined by that wonderful fourth who is in her own way just as important.
So again, well done - I really, really enjoyed reading this!

really outstanding story! it feels like a continuation of DH, which is great because i would have liked another chapter at the end that maybe featured moments like these. I love the way it's not too 'overdone' there's no big showy displays of emotion (esp when Ginny shows up) it's just friends (& lovers) reconnecting with each other and taking comfort from their presence after a traumatic ordeal.
I also love the fact that Harry decides to go back to Hogwarts in your story too, i think he would be really keen to get some peace and quiet away from fans and the wizarding press to decide the next stage of his life , even it does mean having to do McGonagall's Transfiguration homework!
keep up the good work!! |

I feel like I've read and/or reviewed this before, possibly on another site...but here goes again anyway.
Excellent. Everyone is in character, and you got their dialogue spot-on. I especially liked Ron's lines. This is a very well-written, thoughtful, and realistic take on what would have happened after the battle. I felt like it was a continuation of DH. |

this was a lovely missing moment.
your 'soothing sense of peace' permeates this whole story and gives off a lovely feel
The aftermath of any event can be traumatic you have given the right ambiance for what has to be such a hard event to process.

A great story. I always thought DH ended a chapter too soon. This is the chapter we should have gotten.
The attention to detail and the summing up of their friendship is great. Probably the best of the "moments after" stories I've read. |

This is beautiful. I love their interactions, the balance between acting serious and lighthearted. I love the difficulty the boys have with emotion, but that they still want to acknowledge it. I also like that you start with the Trio having their own time together before seamlessly adding in Ginny. Good work! |

Wow! Great missing moment, maybe one of the best I've ever read. Your attention to the details of their feelings was exquisite. The shifting of emotions from low to high and back again was very well done and felt so real. I'm quite sure this is exactly how they would have felt and how they would have reacted. Perhaps the best moment was when Ginny came into the room. After so many years of the trio, it actually seemed like something was missing until she showed up. Maybe that missing piece was more evident because of the actions and words of Ron and Hermione for each other. Harry needs someone like that, too, and that's what Ginny is for!
You really did an outstanding job here. Though we only get to read about Harry's emotions, we know that they're all feeling the same things. The silences and the few words were well placed and just made everything seem that much more real. Writing silences and pauses is very difficult but you accomplished it well.
I really enjoyed this story. Thank you so much for sharing it! |

That was such an amazing story! I loved when they would just peter out into this comfortable silence, and everything seemed so peaceful! I think that's how it would have happened if J.K.R. had written it, the peace mixed with the sadeness of those lost. I don't know why J.K.R. said that Harry didn't go back to Hogwarts to repeat his last year. I think that Hogwarts was Harry's first home, and that he'd want to finish out his time there, and I think he'd especially enjoy ONE peaceful year. (Though knowing Harry, trouble would find him!) I think it would give him some closure. Anyway, fantastic story!

Oh, man, this was wonderful! For the first time, I feel as though someone has effectively captured the essence of Hermione, Ron and Harry. Throughout the whole thing, your characters were very believable as the Trio. It was almost exactly as JKR would have written the aftermath, I think. It was very real: The tears and the "We love you, too, Harry" was so typically Hermione; the awkwardness was perfectly Ron; and the actions and confidence of Ginny was just right. Harry, oh Harry, was excellent. He was awkwardly modest, thoughtful and reflective, just the Harry I know and love. So, in short, everything was spot on. Very, very well done! |

Sweet story. Seems a little more subdued than I would have thought, but still a pretty good representation of how they might try to come to terms with the world-changing events they've just been through. Needs more fluff though |

I thought it was beautiful. I also read it twice and it was better the second time. It felt like an ending, finally, for DH. I felt like the book just stopped abruptly, and after reading this I feel like I've finally read the end. Beautifully written and structured, it felt like a final conclusion for the entire series. |

I am so glad you chose to archive this terrific story here at PS! I read it when it first came out on Checkmated and thought it was really good then... the second time around it's even better. I love the tone of this story. It's so full of hope, yet so full of uncertainty because of the conflicting emotions Harry and the others are feeling. I've noticed the number of times you mention Harry being aware of what's going on outside his window: you've done a nice job incorporating this "global" awareness with his attention to details within the room. Well done! I'm really glad, too, that you left room for the characters to discuss things further when they aren't quite so emotionally taxed; there will definitely be a time for Harry and Ginny to talk and that she seems to need as much time as Harry to come to terms with what he did and where he went during the year and what each of their roles has wrought.
This story definitely gets for creativity and being well-written enough that I took the time to read it twice! |

Oh, this is gorgeous. I absolutely love this... especially the conversation near the end discussing Harry's past "feats" and Ron's marvelous comment about being a "right useful old chap." Heehee. And I also loved the second to last paragraph about peace... Harry definitely deserves and needs some of that now. |

Very nice. You managed to evoke that tranquil feeling you describe in the story throughout the narrative illustrating your point nicely. I love it that Ginny joined them and was peaceful and did not push too hard - I've always felt that if she did not fight him when he left, then she would not fight him when it was all over.

BRILLIANT story! It really captured what I think would have happened th day after. Harry being modest as well, was really fitting. I think the way you put all his achievments really summed them up. Often you don't realise the full enormity of his achievments. Anyway, I think you should write more just afeter the battle fics, as this one was so good! |

What a lovely 'missing moment'. Seeing everything from Harry's familiar POV was just right.
I liked this fragment-
“Yeah,” he said. “But my whole life’s been an adventure. I’m about ready for some quiet myself, to tell you the truth…” He glanced sideways at Ginny as a picture came into his mind of him and her, strolling in a garden… their garden, perhaps, situated behind a lovely little cottage with lots of windows… one of which might open into a nursery… |
