The Sins of the Fathers
I must admit I read the first chapter of this again elsewhere and was forced to read the rest of it to keep up to date. I think your Harry is great and is certainly no push over. I look forward to more developments.

I like reading the new reviews because they tell me where they think the story will go. Normally, they are way off especially when they say they're looking forward to their first date.

Thanks for reviewing

The Sins of the Fathers
I’m so glad you’ve given PS another chance. This story is unique, creative, and (as usual for you) extremely well-written.

Heh, two control freaks are out of control and it's driving them crazy. The character development so far has been great!

The contract magic is a bit scary—it’s almost like an Imperius on Harry and Ginny, but at least it’s pushing them into something good. Hopefully the attraction won’t disappear as soon as they’re engaged, namely that all the emotions aren’t fueled only by that magic. It’s a bit amusing that Harry knows about the arrangement and yet is so confused about his feelings: “So why did his mind feel like someone had sashayed in and, with gay abandon, pulled all his neatly ordered scrolls and books from their niches in the wall and scattered them like late summer flowers before a blushing bride?” Great analogy—Harry should look a bit harder at it to get his answer. In terms of the contract, am I correct in assuming that engagement is synonymous with marital consummation? Besides the physical attraction, it seems as if the contract magic is causing Harry to acquire or experience some of her personality (friendliness, enjoyment of teaching) and likewise for Ginny of him (swearing, thinking badly of others).

I’m looking forward to seeing how their last week up to the deadline plays out. Will this story go past 11 September? It would be very interesting to see how these two damaged souls work out their marriage. Both have been stunted in their emotional development and the healing required to build a healthy & happy relationship would also make great reading.

I can’t write very well but I do delight in reading an author who has a strong command of the English language and seems to enjoy playing with it. Thanks!

Your review is very timely, so thank you. In three different places the sum total of reviews has barely made double figures, so thank you (again).

One reviewer wondered if there was going to be any character development soon whereas I thought they'd been quite a lot, so thanks for your comment on that.

Now to address your question about the effects of the contract.

Although the contract has an affect on both of them it does not cause them to 'leak' characterists back and forth.

What is does allow is for them to become who they really are, thus Harry is revealed not to be a total b'stard and Ginny is not the goodie two shoes she appears to be. Ginny's response to the removal of her 'blockage' is more dramatic than Harry's but does allow her to approach something like normality reasonably quickly.

I will remain silent as to what the contract specifically requires of them.

The story goes beyond the 11th of September but perhaps not in the way you think.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to review as I really needed to encouragement to keep publishing this story.

Oh what a disservice has been done to Harry. He a half-blood having been brainwashed by two pure blood idiot Blacks. He,d best get back to earth sometimes soon. I think I like this one though. It is surely different to say the least. Poor DD and Mcg. they do have their hands full with the arrogant prat of a Harry, don,t they??

Mmmm its DD and co that have used and abused Harry to make him fit to kill Tom. Its really them rather than Bella or Sirius who are really responsible for the state Harry is in.

Bella tries her best within her own experience-at least she cares for Harry for whom he is. Black just wants to bed anything that walks in front of him. But then appearances can be deceptive, can't they?

The Sins of the Fathers
I've read all four chapters and I'm very glad you decided to give PS another chance with this story. I find Harry acting like an arrogant Slytherin highly amusing and am enjoying this tour de force very much. I found it very interesting that Draco Malfoy was Sorted into Ravenclaw and can only speculate where he might have been put had he not been under his father's influence at the age of eleven in canon. Getting back to Harry, I love how he gives Snape his come-uppance in chapter 3 with the flowery language and reduces a rather whiny Ron to groveling on the floor. (As much as I like Ron in canon, his jealous, immature streak absolutely rubs me wrong every time it surfaces in the books. I'm glad Harry was mature enough to see through Ron's bluster and calmly deal with him and his eggers-on.) Finally, I find it highly interesting that after spending two hours with McGonagall helping with the first years, Harry finds a soft spot within himself and seems to actually enjoy his time in the classroom. I'd say that's a step in the right direction if Harry truly wants to win Ginny's heart; she needs to see not only Harry's arrogant exterior, but the hidden softer side of him that he's repressed because of what he was trained to do by Dumbledore et al. I hope the next chapter will be forthcoming soon.

Your comments are interesting, not least because they indicate the direction in which you think the story might head.

I've written the next chapter but its not in beta yet because there are parts I'm not happy with. I've also got a good bit of the following two written as well.

Thanks for taking time to read and review, it helps to encourage me to post here.

There are a lot of complicated thought processes going on here and you have to concentrate to read it. But it is all the better for that. A very in depth look at the life of this particular Harry. And this version is still one of my favourites.

Good to hear that you're still enjoying it. Next chapter is a bit more straight forward - not really the lull before the storm
