These Cuts I Have
Great chapter
Drunk!Harry is, of course, a classic, but this was really sweet. I like how dealing with everything actually takes some time in your story, and isn't just a matter of 1-2 chapters. It's very believable. And I do hope that H&G will get some alone time soon to sort things out and snog ;-)
Cheers!

Thanks very much! Personally, I love the aftermath, and these characters have been through so much, they need some time and attention to heal. That's my take, anyway.

Though normally I don't enjoy drunken teenage scenes in books or movies or fics, in this it really worked for me. It was as if it was one of the only ways both boys could really talk about some of their feelings or mention those who died. I liked it a lot. It wasn't meant to be silly or stupid. It felt like a tiny bit of a release. and yay for Ginny getting on Ron and Hermione about the Lupin thing. DH changed my whole opinion of Lupin, though it had changed somewhat because of how he always disappeared from Harry's life and didn't try to stay in touch, even after they both lost sirius. But trying to abandon his wife and child sealed the deal for me. But then, even good guys can be weak. Back to the chapter. The wish it had been Percy thing was so sad but i think very realistic. You know in real life, everyone would have had the same kind of thought, even briefly, in similar circumstances. Fantastic chapter.

Thanks, Sherry. You know me - I adore writing drunk!Harry, but you're right, sometimes it is easier to get him to say things he'd normally keep to himself when you loosen him up a little.

You do such a wonderful job writing drunken Harry! The things he says are hilarious, but they also hold a thread of truth. I'm a bit sad that George thinks he copes best under the influence of the bottle, but I'm also glad that he's chosen Harry to share his sorrow, since, as he says, Harry knows all about being dead.

I suppose the old adage "two steps forward, one step back" is applicable for this chapter. Everyone seems to be making progress towards healing and finding their "new normal" when something like the family blow-up takes place, bringing back all the hard feelings and sorrow everyone was feeling right after the battle. I realize something like this has to happen so that healing can take place--an airing of the cupboards as it were--before everyone can move to the next step in the grieving process. I just hope that Harry's night hosting George will help them both and that the rest of the Weasley children make the effort to let Percy know that while they all wished him dead at one time, it's better that he's alive and part of the family again.

I love Ron's theories about why he still needs to keep an eye on Harry. He sounds like a mother hen keeping track of her chicks and while he knows that his constant hovering is driving Harry batty, Ron is coping with his losses and fears the only way he can. Hopefully, when the two move permanently into Grimmauld Place, Ron won't feel the need to know every minute where his best friend is. However, Hermione's confidence in his ability to handle Harry and George through the night is going to be a big boost to his own self-confidence.

Well done.

Thanks, Arnel! I'm glad you like him. I'm fond of him myself! Your image of "airing the cupboards" is rather prophetic, and I really hope you'll share your thoughts on the next chapter. I always enjoy reading them, and I think the next one is a doozie.

Next, you'll get to see Ron coping with the hangovers, lol. I'm having so much fun with Ron in this one.

Umbridge or a Dementor - isn't that like two of the same thing? Urgh!!! Wow - this was another tough chapter, just this time it was tough on everyone. Excellent writing - I'm looking forward to more!

A fitting end for the football... er... Quidditch Commissioner, lol. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hold onto your hats, cuz the angst heats up even more next chapter.

I really like your Ron. I like how you've written all of the characters, but Ron really strikes me as the Ron I love in the books, but an older version of that Ron, which makes sense given how much he's gone through in just a few years.

Poor George. He's a mess.

Thanks very much! I'm a big Ron fan, and I tried to show him growing up here. I think he grew a lot by the battle in DH, but a lot of fics tend to leave him stuck in his teenage immaturity. I'm a big Ron fan, and Harry loves him! People need to remember that.
