These Cuts I Have
I love how Mr. Weasley is really picking up the role of father to Harry. He's in such need of a father figure in his life. He needs someone to emulate, someone to talk to, to learn from, and to go to and trust with his problems. I really like how slow you're taking it because it really syncs with Harry's personality and his trust issues from childhood.

I'm glad Harry and Ron have Auror training to really focus on now. Even though they'll be tracking down remaining Death Eaters it still feels like a new beginning in their lives. Hopefully they'll be able to move past all the past issues and hardship and really begin to live!

One more thing while I'm at it I also like how you are not dismissing Harry's abused youth. That is something a real person would need help sorting through in order to rise above what was done to them. Too many times, in both the canon and fanfiction, iauthors have glossed over serious mistreatment that should have had more lasting implications. Kudos!

Thanks. I do think it needs to be addressed as it helped shape who Harry is. I'm not sure it's ever something that will be completely healed, however. Some "cuts" leave scars.

Another excellent chapter! I really enjoyed the banter between Harry and Mr. Weasley while they were playing chess. It was a beautiful way to take care of Harry's paperwork problem. Too cool! I'm also interested in seeing what Mr. Weasley intends to do about the Dursleys... Ginny also appears to be growing up a great deal as well. I am enjoying seeing her mature. Very well done!

Thanks very much! I think the war would've forced some maturity on all of them, and I'm enjoying exploring it.

I'll start with Ginny's conversation with Arthur. My response at the end was "Oh dear!" However, the Dursleys brought Arthur's wrath on themselves, so I'm actually looking forward to reading about his revenge.

On the other hand, I'm incredibly grateful to Arthur for treating Harry just as he would have done with his sons. That personal one-on-one time with an adult is something Harry never had during his childhood and seem to have deeply touched him enough that he was willing to choose Arthur and Molly as his next of kin. I'm glad Ron was pleased about it.

As for Ron, I love how you're showing his slowly emerging maturity. His observations about Rory and McLaggen are quite astute and may even save his skin once the trainees are out in the field. I had to smile when he made plans to treat Hermione to a proper date and Harry to lunch. Those plans are so like the Ron we all know and love.

All in all, nicely done.

Thanks, Arnel! I'm having a great time with Ron's growing maturity. Keep in mind he's still Ron , though. Heh. You know I adore Ron. I enjoyed writing the scenes with both Harry and Ginny and Arthur. I've grown really fond of the Weasley patriarch.

Ohh boy. The Dursleys are not going to like Arthur when he's angry.

The Dursleys deserve some discomfort, no?
