|Harry Potter was the first thing I found fanfiction for, and the first world I attempted writing for. I say attempted, because until the last week, I hadn't written for Potter for about seven years, and what I did come out with was *bad*. Despite it being one of my biggest and first obsessions, I've existed almost solely on ff.net, so I'm late on the uptake, but finally joining some Potter-Only sites.|
I've been a fan of the books longer than I can remember (though I did read CoS first, not realising it was part of a series). I've read them all too many times to be healthy and though I like the movies less, my family won't watch with me because I mutter along with the script.
College and uni took a lot of my free time in the last four years, and what I did have I put into original fiction and artwork (my most frequented haunt is my deviant art account). But with uni finished, I'm hoping to get back into more fanfiction, which I've always thought good for practice and development for my own stories.
Stuff about me...
I'm in the UK but I've written so much fanfic over the years that I use a lot of American terms now. I have my own brand of insanity and love sarcastic, ironic humour. I've wanted a Dalmatian since I was seven and desperately want to own chipmunks (or raccoons. I'd love raccoons). I've been riding horses since I was about nine (over half my life, since I'm nearly 21) and spent my college/uni years studying them. I went to boarding school from the age of 11 to 16, though I didn't stay nights until my last year, but we got into a lot of mischief which includes but is not limited to: breaking out onto the roof, throwing an assortment of fruit out of the common room windows, keeping a live hamster in one of the dorms a secret from the housemistress and setting off fire alarms at 1am.
As far as Harry Potter is concerned...
I have the hugest soft spot for Buckbeak. I adore him. I'm not sure when I started liking Harry and Ginny as a couple, but I think it was before HBP, since I was elated when it happened. I love Sirius. I have split opinions on Ron and Hermione as a couple. I loved Snowy owls before the books made them popular and I - like half the Hogwarts students - would love to give Mrs Norris a good kick. That is all.
I can be quite loyal to pairings, but like to read lots of character interpretations - ie, stories with a Dumbledore who acts like an oversized child, as well as ones where he's a manipulative twerp with ulterior motives across the board are all ones I'll look at. The only pet peeves I have tend to be bad grammar or writing and stories that for whatever reason aren't believable.
