It was a day of celebration in the Wizarding World. A celebration of the death of Voldemort. And Molly was glad he was gone, no doubt about that. Still, celebrating the day a poor little boy the same age as her Ron lost his parents wasn't high on her list of fun things to do. That was why she was washing up the Muggle way, tears dripping down her cheeks and into the hot soapy water, instead of engaging in the same frivolities as the rest of her family. "Mama?" Molly turned around. It was Ginny. "Baby, what are you doing still up?" she asked, wiping her eyes on her apron. "You should have been in bed an hour ago." "Can't sleep." The three year old tottered over to her mother. "H'come you're cryin', Mama?" "No reason, sweetie pie. Mama just felt sad, that's all." Molly picked up Ginny, hugging the little girl close. "You shouldn't be sad, you're prettierer when you smile." Feather-light fingers traced the path of Molly's tears, gently brushing them away. Molly half-laughed, half-sobbed at that. Ginny said the strangest, most profound things at times. "Gin-kin, do you know what today is?" "Wednesday?*" "No, sweetie. Well, yes, but that's not all. What else?" Freckled nose scrunching up, Ginny tipped her head to one side. "Hal'ween?" "Yes, baby. Halloween. Do you know what happened on Halloween?" "Um...nope!" the girl said merrily, shaking her head from side to side. Absently, Molly flicked her wand at the dishes, sending them to work as she carried her little girl up the stairs. "Well, three years ago, just after you were born, a little boy called Harry Potter saved the world..." End *True. If you don't believe me, go to 1984 and scroll down to October.
